Choosing Healthy Food – Introduction

Healthy eating, along with physical activity, is important for health and wellbeing for everyone including people with diabetes. However choosing healthy food in the supermarket can be difficult.

This Choosing Healthy Food section will cover:

  • how to choose healthy foods,
  • healthy eating and cooking tips,
  • how foods effect your health and wellbeing.

At the end of this program, you can test your knowledge with a quiz about the different foods that you have learned about.

Guidelines have been outlined to help find healthier options within some food groups. This information has been adapted from the Healthy Shopping Guide, a publication developed by the National Diabetes Australia Dietitians group and published on behalf of the diabetes state and territory organisations. For more information or to buy a copy of the publication, contact your diabetes state or territory organisation on 1300 136 588 or visit their website.
